Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you. – Luke 6:38

The scripture reference is often related to money; however, I want to challenge you today to expand your view of this scripture to anything you desire in life. Whatever you give your time, your focus, and your energy to, will be given back to you!
Therefore, if you want to win in life you must give. Below is a list of three things that you will need to give in order to win in life. They are as follows:
1. Give Time
Time is a very precious commodity. We must use it strategically and not waste it because time is that one thing that we can not get back once it is gone. Therefore, it must be used wisely. Some examples of using our time well would be to use our time to focus on our goals, learning a new skills, perfecting our craft, and providing service to others and our community. Time wasters are things such as to much time on video games, social media, and television. Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying that we should not do those things; however, in order to win, we have to set limits on those things that fall in the waster’s category. Remember, everyone gets the same amount of time in a day, the difference lies in how it is used.
2. Give Effort
If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again! This simple phase has stayed with me since kindergarten. Success equals effort. We must put in the work. I have struggled with weight loss for a while (y’all it has been for a long while). But the reason for my lack of success is lack of effort. When I go to the gym, my workouts are completed, at my pace, at my comfort level, and at my convenience. Do you see the common theme here. That lack of effort will get you the same results that it has gotten me (still pedaling my wheels without any success). I will win when I put some real effort in weight loss reaching my weight loss goals through diet and exercise.
3. Give Consistent Focused Energy
For those goals that we have established, we must give consistent focus and energy. We must incorporate our goals into our daily, or weekly routines because consistency is key. However, I want to take consistency a step further. When we come to work on those goals, it must be at a time that we can focus on the task and have energy to accomplish small wins. You don’t want to work on these things when you have competing obligations, like the kids, work, etc. You may need to rise a little earlier or stay up a little later to give your goals the focused energy required.

If you put into practice these tips, you will win! How can you not win, if you are giving time, effort, and consistent focused energy to completion of the goals that you have established for you to win at life. The Bible says in Proverbs 11:30 “the seeds of good deeds become a tree of life; a wise person wins friends.” Again, I may be liberal in my interpretation, however, the analogy of a seed becoming a whole tree, shows you how little by little you can achieve greatness. Along the way, you will gain wisdom and win some friends.
